Maruti Suzuki has given its first cosmetic upgrade to its Nexa hatchback – Ignis. The major change in the new Ignis is the front grille which seems similar to the S-Presso with chrome inserts.
The prices of the new Ignis have increased by Rs 6,000. The prices start at Rs 4.89 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 7.20 lakh for the top end Alpha automatic variant.
Apart from a reworked rear bumper, there aren’t many changes. Mechanically, the Ignis is now available only as a petrol variant. The Fiat-sourced diesel engine had to be discontinued because of BS6 norms.
The 1.2-litre, four-cylinder K-12 petrol engine produces 83hp and 113Nm of torque. It is available in a 5-speed AMT option as well. The ARAI rated fuel efficiency is 20.89kpl for both manual and automatic variants.
On the inside, things look the same. The 7.0-inch touchscreen now gets Maruti’s SmartPlay Studio with voice recognition and on-board navigation.
Like before, there are two airbags, ABS, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat support and seat belt reminder system as standard.
The Ignis gets two new colour options – Lucent Orange and Turquoise Blue. There are three new dual-tone colour options – Nexa Blue with Black, Nexa Blue with Silver, and Lucent Orange with Black. These cost Rs 13,000 extra.
