Bhubaneswar: The remake of evergreen Odia song ‘he phaguna tume gala pare pare…….’ originally written, composed and rendered by legendary singer Akshaya Mohanty in 70s garnered more than one lakh views within a month of its digital release.
Singer Biraj Rath of reality show ‘Voice of Odisha’ fame has retained the pathos of the song while adding new lyrics and hard rock flavour, keeping youngsters in mind. “A tragic love story is being essayed through the song. When we decided to remake the classic, I realised people already have the original song in mind which I can never match. So, I decided to sing in a style that suits my voice,” said Biraj, who has also penned the lyrics and directed the music video.
The music has been composed by Binay Rath.
S3 Movies in association with United Misfits has produced the music video, digitally released by Odia One.
Remake of old popular songs is not common in Odia music industry. A first-of-its-kind to have successfully created an impact on music lovers, thankfully it did not have to go through copy right issues. The original song was recorded for AIR Cuttack three decades back.
“Music is my passion and I want to create some good Odia songs,” says Biraj, whose music videos ‘Smruti Ra Marubhumi’ and ‘Prajapati’ won good reviews.
