Newborn Dumped In Sack In Odisha Forest

Mayurbhanj: An newborn boy was found abandoned in Nahashola forest near Jahira village in Mayurbhanj district’s Betanati block on Saturday.

According to locals, villagers spotted the baby dumped inside a sack in the morning. They rescued the baby and called Asha Didi for primary treatment.

The newborn weighing 2.1 kg was then taken to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital. The baby is undergoing treatment in NICU.

Police have launched an investigation.

The baby will be handed over to the Child Welfare Committee after being discharged from the hospital, police said.
