Phulbani: The body of a newborn girl was found on the roadside at Mundiasahi near Phulbani hospital in Kandhamal district on Friday.
The deceased child was spotted by a woman, Kuni Diggal, being dragged by a stray dog. They rescued her and immediately alerted the police.
“An unnatural death case has been registered and search is on for the parents of the baby girl. The body will be sent for post-mortem”, Phulbani police station inspector-in-charge Rebati Shabar informed.
Meanwhile, the local residents of the area suspect that someone might have abandoned the infant on the road after delivery. They demanded a thorough investigation into the matter.
