Nabarangpur: A married man and a minor girl were found hanging from a tree inside a cashew forest in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district on Thursday.
The incident took place in the forest located under Mokian gram panchayat under Papadahandi block of the district. The deceased were identified as Pabitra Bhatra and a minor girl who is his relative’s daughter.
Pabitra had got married around four months ago and recently his wife had gone to her parents’ house for the Nuakhai festival.
According to sources, Pabitra had dinner at home on Wednesday night and went to sleep. However, he was found missing on Thursday morning, and his family members began searching for him. The minor girl was also found missing from her home, following which her family started looking for her.
Some villagers later found the two hanging from a tree and informed the families. They also informed the police.
A police team visited the site and recovered the bodies for post-mortem. They launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances under which the two died.
It is suspected that the two died by suicide by hanging themselves. The exact reason behind the suspected extreme act by the two was yet to be established.
