Balasore: A newlywed woman was found hanging from a tree at Uparbeda village under Soro police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district on Monday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Gouri Muduli.
According to sources, locals spotted her hanging from a sal tree near her in-laws’ house with a saree around her neck this morning. Police have recovered the body and sent it for postmortem to the government hospital at Soro.
Sources further said that Gouri had married Basant Singh of Uparbeda village on March 16. As per tradition, she went to her parent’s house for Astamangala ritual, which takes place on eighth day of marriage and returned to her in-laws’ house on Sunday.
The Soro police have begun a probe to ascertain the circumstances leading to her death.
