Kataka: Barely three weeks after her marriage, a woman was allegedly hacked to death at a village in Nemala area of Odisha’s Kataka district.
The gruesome incident took place at Sahadebpur village under the jurisdiction of Kataka district late on Wednesday night. Her husband was reported to be absconding after the incident, which came to light on Thursday morning.
According to information the woman, identified as Rojalin Mallick of Kendrapada, had got married to Shailendra Mallick of Sahadebpur on July 12.
While the murder was suspected to have been triggered by family dispute, family members of the deceased woman alleged that she was killed for dowry.
While the Shailendra was suspected to have committed the murder before running away, the woman’s parents claimed that other members of Shailendra’s family were also involved in the incident.
They demanded a detailed investigation into the incident to ascertain the circumstances that led to the murder,
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and efforts are on to trace and apprehend the deceased woman’s husband.
