Sambalpur: Five persons, including a newly-wed couple, were injured after the car in which they were travelling collided head-on with a truck near Kulundi on National Highway-53 under Jamanakira police limits in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Friday morning.
According to sources, the accident took place when Sumit Modi was returning to Deogarh in car with his bride and two others after tying the knot in Sambalpur. While the driver of the truck, who also sustained head injuries, fled the spot soon after the accident, the other four were rescued by locals and admitted to district headquarters hospital for treatment. The couple are reported to have sustained a fracture in their legs.
Meanwhile, police have reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.
