Bhubaneswar: Odisha unit of BJP on Friday accused the BJD of misleading the voters of Sambalpur Lok Sabha constituency by telling lies as it was sure of losing the elections.
Speaking to media persons in Bhubaneswar, BJP spokesman Anil Biswal said BJD’s Lok Sabha candidate for Sambalpur Pranab Prakash Das on Thursday targeted senior BJP leader and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan by drawing a comparison between a road built by the Odisha government and the National Highway 55. Pradhan is BJP candidate for Sambalpur LS seat.
“Das posted pictures of Biju Expressway and NH 55 on his X handle to prove that the road built by the state government was well maintained while the incomplete NH 55 presented a miserable condition. But the picture of NH 55 shared by Das was not a recent one and was taken in 2021,” said Biswal.
Similarly, a Rajya Sabha member of BJD has made false allegation against Pradhan on Friday, Biswal said adding that these statements reflected the ruling party was shaken by rising popularity of Pradhan and was sure of losing the elections.
The BJP spokesman said around 83% of the work of NH 55 has been completed and the rest part has been delayed due to negligence of the state government in timely acquisition of necessary land. “Blaming the Centre for all its faults and neglect will no more work for BJD. The people have seen through the false campaign of the BJD and will vote it out of power in the elections this time,” he added.
