NHRC Team Completes Kunduli Suicide Probe, Leaves Odisha

Koraput: The five-member special team of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), led by DSP Rabi Singh on Friday left Odisha after completing the investigation into the suicide of the rape victim minor girl in Koraput district.

The team left for Vishakhapatnam from where it will leave for New Delhi and submit its report to the Commission within 15 days.

Prior to leaving Koraput district, the team had a meeting with the heads of the Border Security Force (BSF), Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), India Reserve Battalion (IRB), Special Operation Group (SOG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) battalions on Thursday and asked them about the movement of their unit in Kunduli area during the period when the victim was allegedly gang raped.

Besides, the team also had a meeting with the director of the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) Purna Chandra Mandal and Crime Branch SP Radhamadhav Panigrahi and later with the doctors at the Saheed Laxman Nath Medical College and Hospital regarding the treatment of the victim. The team had earlier met the doctor at the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Kunduli where the victim was admitted after the alleged gang rape.

The team on Thursday had visited the victim’s native village Musaguda for the second time and interacted with her mother and aunt.
