NIA Steps Up Probe Into Sundarpada Explosion In Bhubaneswar; CCTV Visual Under Scanner



Bhubaneswar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has reportedly intensified its investigation into the deadly explosion that rocked Sundarpada area of Bhubaneswar three weeks ago.

As per information, the NIA which is probing possible wider conspiracy angle in the case, appeared to have stepped up the investigation after a frightening CCTV footage of the incident surfaced.

The footage showed the intensity of the blast that had left at least four persons critically injured.

The visuals, now circulating among investigators, show the terrifying moment when the

explosion occurred.

As per reports, history-sheeter Shahnawaz Malik, who was critically injured while making crude bomb with his family on the rooftop of a house in Bhubaneswar’s Sundarpada on January 27, died on earlier this month while undergoing treatment at a private hospital. His mother, Lizatun Bibi, also reportedly succumbed to her burns days later.

Police sources say Shahnawaz was assembling the device when it exploded, injuring four people including his fiancée and aide Amiya. NIA is probing any possible larger conspiracy.

The powerful explosion had sparked panic in the neighbourhood, with residents rushing out of their homes after hearing the loud bang.

In view of the gravity of the incident, the NIA had stepped in and initiated a detailed probe into the deadly blast.

Sources said investigators are now examining the CCTV footage and other evidence to ascertain the exact cause of the explosion and whether there was any larger conspiracy involved.
