Kalahandi: Even as the mystery over the unidentified sheep killer continues to haunt Niali, a sheep was found dead at Maharanapada village in Kalahandi district on Sunday under similar circumstances.
“Narendra Sabar found two of his sheep missing from the shed and went looking for them. One sheep was found dead in a nearby field with its head torn out of the body, while the other is yet to be traced,” a villager said.
The post-mortem report by a veterinary doctor revealed that the sheep was attacked and killed by a wild animal.
Forest and environment minister Bijayshree Routray, when informed about the incident, said, “The matter is under investigation. Report has been sought from principal chief conservator of forests and regional conservator of forests over the incident.”
Meanwhile, forest officials have decided to lay more traps and deploy additional manpower to catch the sheep killer in Niali.
