Bhadrak: BJD candidate Nibedita Jena has been elected as chairperson of Dhamnagar NAC in the district.
In the election to Dhamnagar Notified Area Council (NAC), the ruling BJD has won in 9 wards and BJP 2 wards out of total 11 wards.
During the elections to urban local bodies held across the state on March 24, the polling in several booths of four wards under Dhamnagar NAC was disrupted due to disturbances.
The State Election Commission had ordered repoll in Booth No. 03 (Ward No. 02), Booth No. 8, 9 (Ward No. 5), Booth No. 16 (Ward No. 9), Booth No. 17, 18 (Ward no. 10) of the NAC on April 5.
The final results were declared on Wednesday after counting of votes cast in the repoll and Nibedita was declared chairperson of the NAC.
Notably, Section 144 was clamped in Dhamnagar NAC from 9 pm on Tuesday till 6 am on Thursday.
