Nigh Temp Drops To 7°C In Odisha, Dense Fog Engulfs Rourkela & Nayagarh

Bhubaneswar: Amid the abetment of cold wave conditions, the night temperature dropped to 7 degree Celsius at G Udayagiri in Odisha’s Kandhamal district in the last 24 hours, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Department informed on Friday.

Besides G Udayagiri, the mercury hovered between 7-11 degree Celsius at 7 places – Koraput (8.2), Daringbadi in Kandhamal (9), Semiliguda in Koraput (9.7), Keonjhar (10.9), Ranital in Bhadrak  and Angul at 11 degree Celsius each and Kirei in Sundargarh (11.3).

According to the weather agency, the night temperature in Koraput was 4.5 degree below normal. The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar recorded 15 degree Celsius each. “There will no be no large change in the minimum temperature during the next 5 days, when it is expected to remain 2-3 degree Celsius above normal at many places in the state,” it added.

Rourkela and Nayagarh witnessed dense fog this morning. Shallow to moderate fog was also seen in Jharsuguda, Paradip, Koraput, Bhawanipatna and Keonjhar.

The MeT office has forecast rain in some parts of Odisha and also issued yellow warning of dense fog for two more days.

From 8.30 am on Jan 5 to 8.30 am of Jan 6

Light rain or thundershower is likely at one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

Shallow to moderate fog may occur at a few places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Balangir, Sonepur, Nayagarh, Dhenkanal, and at one or two places in remaining districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning: Dense fog is also likely occur at one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Rayagada, Koraput and Nabarangpur.

From 8.30 am on Jan 6 to 8.30 am of Jan 7

Light rain or thundershower may occur at one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj

Shallow to moderate fog is likely at a one or two places over the districts of South Odisha.

Yellow Warning: Dense fog may occur at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nayagarh and Nabarangpur.

Dry weather will prevail thereafter, it added.
