Balasore: With the overall situation in Odisha’s Balasore town and nearby area gradually improving, the district administration has further relaxed night curfew.
Official sources said curfew in the north Odisha town has been relaxed by another hour. Curfew was imposed in the town following a group clash June 17.
Instead of 9 pm to 5 am, night curfew will now remain in force from 10 pm to 5 am in areas under the jurisdiction of the Town and Sahadevkhunta police stations, according to an official order.
Educational institutions, both government and private, will be allowed to open in these areas during the specified relaxation hours.
All commercial establishments shall remain open during the curfew relaxation hours for people to avail essential services.
Night curfew will continue in areas under the jurisdiction of both Sahadevkhunta and Town police stations.
Curfew restrictions do not apply to those tasked with law and order, emergency and municipal services duties, including executive magistrates, police personnel, health workers, electricity staff, and government machinery-related duties.
So far, 91 people have been arrested in connection with the clash, and 24 police cases have been registered, a senior police officer said.
