Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police announced clamping of prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar with night curfew to contain COVID-19 infection coming into force from 9 pm in urban areas of 20 districts of Odisha on Saturday.
The restrictions are aimed at limiting the movement of people, which would contribute to breaking the infection chain. It is being imposed till 5 in the morning.
However, the curfew in urban areas of worst-hit Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Balangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri, bordering Chhattisgarh, will begin at 6 pm and continue till 5 am.
On Thursday, the Special Relief Commissioner had directed district collectors, municipal commissioners and police to issue orders for their respective jurisdiction under appropriate provisions of law and ensure strict compliance.
