Night Temp 6.5°C Above Normal In Bhubaneswar; Dip In Mercury Likely Across Odisha After 2 Days

Bhubaneswar: Odisha can expect some relief from the soaring heat with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting a gradual fall in the night temperature by 2-3 degree Celsius after two days. 

According to the weather agency, dry weather may prevail across the state for two days followed by light rain at some places during the next 3 days. Shallow to moderate fog may also occur at one or two places in Ganjam, Kandhamal, Koraput, and Gajapati districts till 8.30 am on Thursday.

Light to moderate rain/thundershower is likely at one or two places in Bargarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, and Nuapada.

FEB 11

Light to moderate rain/thundershower may occur at one or two places in Bargarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Sonepur, Angul, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, and Mayurbhanj.

FEB 12

Light to moderate rain/thundershower likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Khurda, Nayagarh, Angul, Kandhamal, and Boudh.

In the last 24 hours, the night temperature at most places in the state was 3 to 6 degrees above normal with Balangir topping the list with +6.6 degree Celsius followed by Bhawanipatna (+6.5), Bhubaneswar and Titlagarh (+6), Cuttack (+5.8), Sambalpur (+5.6), and Chandbali (5.5).

Koraput was the coldest at 10.6 degree Celsius and the only place in the state to record -4.1 below normal temperature. The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 23.5 and 22.2 degree Celsius, respectively.

On Tuesday, the mercury had soared past 33 degree Celsius at thirteen places during the day. Bhawanipatna and Paralakhemundi towns recorded the highest maximum temperature at 35.0 degree Celsius, followed by Titilagarh and Malkangiri (34.5), Bhubaneswar (34.4), Balangir (33.8), Angul and Jharsuguda (33.7), Dhenkanal (33.6), Sonepur (33.5), Chandbali (33.2), Bhadrak (33.1) and Cuttack (33.0).
