Night Temp Crosses 20°C In Bhubaneswar Amid Dense Fog Cover; Mercury To Rise Further After 24 Hrs

Bhubaneswar: The night temperature crossed 20 degree Celsius in Odisha capital in the last 24 hours. Bhubaneswar recorded 21.8 degree, almost 6 degrees above normal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD0 informed on Wednesday.

The capital city had recorded 17.9 degree Celsius the previous day.

Its twin city Cuttack recorded 20 degree Celsius, which was 5.2 degrees above normal, and 2 degree more than Tuesday.

G udayagiri, the hill station in Kandhamal, was the coldest at 9.6 degree Celsius followed by Rourkela (10), Jharsuguda (10.2), Phulbani (11), and Sundargarh (11.2).

The weather agency has forecast further rise in the night temperature by 2-4 degree Celsius after 24 hours.  The mercury is likely to hover between 18-22 degree Celsius in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack during the next 7 days.

Meanwhile, very dense fog engulfed Angul, Koraput and Nayagarh this morning, reducing visibility below 50 metres, Dense fog was also seen in Chandbali, Cuttack, Keonjhar, Bhubaneswar, Kendrapada, Phulbani and Jagatsinghpur.

The IMD has warned of dense fog very at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhargarh, Angul, Deogarh, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Nayagarh,Sambalpur, Kandhamal and Malkangiri till Thursday morning. Shallow to moderate fog may also occur during early morning hours at a few places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhargarh, Angul, Deogarh, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Nayagarh, Sambalpur, Kandhamal and Malkangiri and at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Koraput and Dhenkanal.

During the subsequent 24 hours, yellow warning of dense fog has been issued for one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhargarh, Angul, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Ganjam, Gajapati and Nayagarh districts. Shallow to moderate fog may also occur during early morning hours at a few places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Ganjam, Gajapati and Nayagarh and at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Dhenkanal districts.

Shallow to moderate fog is also likely in early morning hours at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Angul, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Ganjam, Gajapati and Nayagarh district on Saturday.

There is no weather warning thereafter, it added.
