Bhubaneswar: With cold wave sweeping Odisha, the mercury hovered around 10 degree Celsius and below at 11 places in the last 24 hours with G Udayagiri in Kandhamal district remaining the coldest in the state again at 7.5 degree Celsius.
Similarly, Phulbani, the district headquarters of Kandhamal district, recorded a low of 8.5 degree Celsius followed by Semiliguda in Koraput and Kirei in Sundargarh at 8.7 degree Celsius, Daringbadi, also in Kandhamal, at 9.5 degree Celsius, Koraput (9.6), Rourkela (9.7), Keonjhar (10.4), Sundargarh (10.5), Angul (10.6) and Jharsuguda (10.8), according Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre here.
The night temperature in twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack dropped to 15.3 and 14.5 degree Celsius, respectively, last night.
While dry weather conditions are prevailing in the state, the weather agency has forecast shallow to moderate fog at one or two places in Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Jharsuguda, Kandhamal, and Koraput. districts for two days. However, no major change in weather conditions is likely in the near future as northwesterly winds, bringing cold air from the Himalayan region, are still weak, it added.
