Night Temp Hovers Around 13°C In Bhubaneswar & Cuttack, May Fall Further After 4 Days

Bhubaneswar: Though the night temperature across Odisha rose slightly in the last 24 hour, the mercury continued to hover around 13°C in twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), G Udayagiri, the hill station in Kandhmal, again recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 7.2°C, an increase of 2.4°C in the last two days. Semiliguda in Koraput at 9.1°C was the only other place in the state to record sub-10°C. Phulbani and Daringbadi, also in Kandhamal, recorded 10°C each, followed by Angul at 10.1°C, about 3°C below normal, and Rourkela at 11.9°C.

In Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, the night temperature was recorded at 13.4°C and 13.5°C respectively. The twin cities had seen mercury plummet to 13.2°C and 12.8°C respectively on Sunday and 13.6°C and 12.5°C on Saturday.

Bhubaneswar had recorded the season’s lowest temperature of 12.7°C on January 4 when Cuttack city also shivered at 12.4°C.

Phulbani also saw dense fog, reducing visibility below 200 metres, while shallow fog occurred in Paradip, Sundargarh, Bhawanipatna, Rourkela, Jharsuguda and Sambalpur.

The IMD has forecast dense fog in Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Koraput till January 15 morning. Shallow to moderate fog may occur in Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Sundargrah, Cuttack and Khurda till January 14 morning and Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Sundargrah, Angul, Cuttack and Khurda till January 16 morning.

The night temperature is likely to remain unchanged for next 4 days and thereafter fall by 2-4°C, it added.
