Night Temp Hovers Around 14°C In Bhubaneswar & Cuttack For 3rd Day; Very Dense Fog In Rourkela

Bhubaneswar: The night temperature hovered around 14 degree Celsius (°C) in Odisha’s twin cities for the third consecutive day on Tuesday.

Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 14.6°C and 14.5°C respectively. The mercury had dropped to 12.7°C and 12.5°C respectively in these cities on January 4 as the state reeled under intense cold. The night temperature rose to 14.5°C and 14°C during the subsequent 24 hours and 14.5°C each on January 6.

The last 24 hours also saw very dense fog engulfing Rourkela, reducing visibility below 50 metres, as the Steel City recorded 11.3°C. Koraput, which was the coldest place in the state at 9.4°C, Phulbani (10°C) and Chandbali (15°C) witnessed dense fog while there was moderate fog in Keonjhar (12.6°C) and Kendrapada (13.6°C). Shallow fog also occurred in Paradip, Jharsuguda, Puri, Sambalpur, Gopalpur and Sundargarh this morning.

The weather agency has warned of dense to very dense fog at one or two places in Sundargarh, Kandhamal , and Koraput districts till January 9 morning. Shallow to moderate fog may occur at one or two places in Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bolangir, Ganjam and Kalahandi till January 8 morning and in Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Balangir, Ganjam and Kalahandi during the subsequent 24 hours.

It further stated that there will be no large change in the night temperature for the next 4 days, following which the mercury may rise by 2-4°C across the state.
