Bhubaneswar: Odisha, which is reeling under chilly weather conditions, is likely to witness a rise in the night temperature by 2-4°C after 24 hours under the influence of a western disturbance, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Friday.
The weather agency has also warned of dense fog at one or two places in Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Koraput, and Sundargarh district till January 13 morning. Shallow to moderate fog may occur at one or two places in Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Kalahandi, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapada districts till January 12 morning and in Jharsuguda, Keonjhargarh, Kalahandi, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Puri till January 13 morning.
In the last 24 hours, the mercury plummeted to 10°C and below at 13 places in the state. G Udayagir, the hill station in Kadhamal, was the coldest at 5.4°C, followed by Semiliguda in Koraput (7.2°C), Phulbani (7.5°C), Jharsuguda (7.6°C), Rourkela (7.9°C), Kirei in Sundargarg and Chiplima in Sambalpur at 8.8°C each, Daringibadi (9°C), Sundargarh (9.1°C), Angul (9.6°C) and Keonjhar (9.9°C), while Sonepur, Balangir and Bhawanipatna recorded 10°C each.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 12.8°C each. The night temperature dropped 2.3°C below normal in the state capital.

Very dense fog engulfed Koraput, reducing visibility below 50 metres. Dense fog also occurred in Angul, Phubani and Dhenkal and shallow fog in Rourkela, Bhawanipatna, Sundargarh and Bhubaneswar, it added.
