Night Temp May Rise Again In Odisha After 3 Days; Dense Fog Alert Continues

Bhubaneswar: After a slight dip in the last 24 hours, the night temperature may rise again in Odisha by 2-3 degree Celsius after 3 days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Monday.

The minimum temperature is unlikely to witness any large change during the next 3 days and thereafter rise by 2 to 3°C in the subsequent 2 days across Odisha, according to the midday bulletin.

Several places saw a dip in the night in the last 24 hours with cold and dry air blowing into Odisha. G Udayagiri, the hill station in Kandhamal, was the coldest place in the state at 6.4 degree Celsius. It had recorded 8.4 degree Celsius the previous day.

The mercury also dropped to 8 degree Celsius each in Rourkela and Jharsuguda, which had recorded 11.4 and 11.2 degree Celsius the previous day. Keonjhar at 11.2 degree Celsius saw the highest drop of 4.9 degrees in the night temperature, followed by Sambalpur (3.7), where the minimum temperature was recorded at 13.3 degree Celsius.

Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 18.6 and 17 degree Celsius respectively, a drop of almost 2 degrees than the previous day. The twin cities had recorded 20.5 and 19 degree Celsius respectively, almost 4.5 degrees above normal, on Sunday.

The night temperature may hover around 19-21 degree Celsius in Bhubaneswar and 17-18 degree Celsius in Cuttack during the next seven days.

The weather agency has also warned of dense fog in several parts of the state for three days.

Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati and Keonjhar.

Shallow to moderate fog may also occur during early morning hours at a few places in Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar and at one or two places in Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Kalahandi and Kandhamal.

From Jan 28 till Jan 29 morning

Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Angul, Dhenkanal and Keonjhar.

Shallow to moderate fog may also occur during early morning hours at a few places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and at one or two places in Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Balangir, Bhadrak and Sundargarh.

From Jan 29 till Jan 30 morning

Ganjam, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapada.

Shallow to moderate fog may also occur during early morning hours at a few places in Ganjam, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapada and at one or two places in Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, Angul and Dhenkanal.

There is no weather warning thereafter, it added.
