Bhubaneswar: The night temperature may rise to 23 degree Celsius in Bhubaneswar with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday predicting no large change in the mercury levels during the next 4-5 days.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 20.5 and 19 degree Celsius, almost 4.5 degrees above normal, in the last 24 hours. While Cuttack might experience a slight dip in the night temperature with mercury hovering around 17-18 degree Celsius during the next seven days, Bhubaneswar is likely to be warmer at 22-23 degree Celsius.
The state capital along with Puri also experienced moderate fog this morning, while a thick blanket of fog engulfed Cuttack, Balasore, Paradip, Angul, Gopalpur, Keonjhar, Chatrapur, Dhenkanal and Khurda.
G Udayagiri, the hill station in Kandhamal, was the coldest at 8.4 degree Celsius followed by Semiliguda in Koraput (9.5), Phulbani (11), and Rourkela (11.4).
The weather agency has warned of dense fog at one or two places in Jajpur, Kendrapada, Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Koraput, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundargarh and Jagatsinghpur districts till January 27 morning and in Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Khurda, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Koraput, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal till January 28 morning.
Shallow to moderate fog may also occur during early morning hours at a few places in Jajpur, Kendrapada, Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Koraput, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, and Jagatsinghpur till till January 27 morning; and Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Khurda, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Koraput, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Boudh during the subsequent 24 hours.
