Night Temp Rises By 2-4°C In Coastal Odisha Due To Anti-Cyclonic Circulation Over Bay; Rain From Feb 22

Bhubaneswar: Most parts of coastal Odisha experienced a 2-4 degrees rise in the night temperature in the last 24 hours under the influence of an active anti-cyclonic circulation (high pressure) over the Bay of Bengal, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre informed on Monday.

The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded an above normal temperature of 3.4 and 3,3 degree Celsius, respectively.

Bhawanipatna at 21.8 degree Celsius, however, recored the highest above normal temperature of 7.9 degree Celsius, followed by Sambalpur (20.6) at 5.4 degree Celsius,  Hirakud (20.6) at 5 degree Celsius, Balangir (19) at 4.4 degree Celsius and Titlagarh (21.4) at 4.3 degree Celsius.

The foggy conditions in parts of the state is also being attributed to availability of moisture due to the anti-cyclonic circulation. The yellow warning of dense fog also continues for one or two places in Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Boudh, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Kendrapada, and Ganjam districts till Tuesday morning. Shallow to moderate fog is also at a few places in South Coastal Odisha and at one or two places in North Coastal Odisha, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Angul, and Dhenkanal districts during this period.

According to the midday bulletin, some places in the state are also likely to experience rain from February 22. However, there will no charge change in the night temperature across the state during the next 4-5 days.
