Bhubaneswar: Night temperature is likely to fall by 2 to 3 degree Celsius (°C) in South Odisha during the next 24 hours, India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Saturday.
While dry weather will prevail across the state, shallow to moderate fog is likely at one or two places in Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati and Koraput in the next 48 hours.
Notably, the night temperature dropped below 15°C at 18 places in Odisha last night. The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 15.2°C and 14.5°C respectively.
“Change in wind pattern to northerly would influence the gradual drop in mercury. The mercury would drop below normal at some places,” IMD-Bhubaneswar senior scientist Umashankar Das said.
According to Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) director Sarat Chandra Sahu, the night temperature would drop across the state at least for a week starting Sunday.
