Bhubaneswar: The chilly weather conditions may continue in Odisha for another two days, following which the night temperature is likely to rise by 2-3 degree Celsius, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Thursday.
The weather agency has also warned of dense fog at one or two places in Sundargarh, Kandhamal and Koraput districts till January 11 morning. Shallow to moderate fog may also occur at one or two places in Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Angul and Dhenkanal during this period.
Very dense fog had engulfed Koraput in the last 24 hours, reducing visibility below 50 metres. Moderate fog also occurred in Phulbani.
According to the MeT office, G Udayagiri, the hill station in Kandhamal, was the coldest place in the state at 5.2°C. Jharsuguda recorded the season’s lowest night temperature of 6°C, 5.8°C below normal, with cold and dry air blowing from northwest towards Odisha, followed by Rourkela (6.4°C), Phulbani (6.8°C), Semiliguda in Koraput (7.1°C) Daringbadi (8°C), Sundargarh (8.2°C), Keonjhar (8.8°C), Bhawanipatna (9.1°C) and Sonepur (9.8°C).
