Bhubaneswar: Odisha witnessed the onset of a cold wave with places in four districts recording night temperature of 15 degree Celsius or below on Friday, the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar informed on Saturday.
Sonepur recorded the lowest temperature at 11.8°C, followed by Daringbadi (14°C), Jharsuguda (14.1°C) and Keonjhar (15°C).
The Director of Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, HR Biswas, said a cold and dry wind has started blowing from the north-north-west in the Himalayan range, making the condition suitable for the onset of a cold wave in Odisha.
He said that the minimum night temperature is most likely to fall by 2-3°C over the districts of North Odisha and by 3-4°C over the districts of South Odisha during the next 2 to 3 days.
