Bhubaneswar: Shivering from a cold wave earlier this week, Odisha has been witnessing a gradual rise in the night temperatures for the past two days. Sundargarh experienced the coldest Friday night in Odisha at 8 degree Celsius.
The mercury dipped below 10 degree Celsius at three other places – Phulbani and Daringbadi at 8.5 each and Titalgarh at 8.8 degree Celsius, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Saturday.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 14.6 and 13.5 degree Celsius, respectively.
The MeT office on Friday said that there will be a gradual rise in the minimum temperature by 2 to 3 degree during the next 2 days and no large change thereafter,
It has forecast shallow to moderate fog at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Cuttack till 8.30 am on Sunday and in Ganjam, Gajapati, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, in the subsequent 24 hours.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sambalpur and Deogarh on Monday (December 27).
Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sundargarh are likely to experience rain the following day, it added.
