Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday apprehended the night watchman at the office of Revenue Inspector at Balandapada under Phiringia tehsil in Odisha’s Kandhamal district while allegedly accepting Rs 8,000 bribe.
The accused, identified as Ajaya Mallick, had demanded the illegal gratification from the complainant to facilitate the mutation process of his ancestral land and issue patta (record of rights) in his favour, an official release said.
The entire bribe money was recovered from Mallick and seized. A case has been registered under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, at Berhampur Vigilance police station and further investigation is on, it added.
