Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Wednesday appointed 2012 batch IAS officer Nikhil Pavan Kalyan as the Collector and District Magistrate of Jajpur.
The General Administration department issues a notification on his appointment as the Jajpur district Collector. Nikhil Pavan Kalyan is at present posted as Director in the Rural Development department.
“In exercise of the powers conferred under section 20(1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973 (Act II of 1974), the State Government do hereby appoint Shri Nikhil Pavan Kalyan, IAS as the District Magistrate in the district of Jajpur,” the notification said.
As per reports, present Jajpur Collector Subhankar Mohapatra had voluntarily declared before the Election Commission of India (ECI) that his brother-in-law is contesting from Dhenkanal Lok Sabha constituency. In view of this, the ECI decided to replace him during the election period.
