Bhubaneswar: As part of the crackdown on drug hauls in Odisha, the Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch arrested nine persons following a series of raids at different places in the state in the last five days.
In the raid conducted at Laxmibazaar in Dhenkanal on Wednesday, one Sandip Kumar Swain (32) was arrested and 18 gram of brown sugar, a motorcycle and Rs 1.1 lakh were seized from his possession. The accused was produced before Dhenkanal District & Sessions Judge on Thursday.
On January 5, the STF had arrested seven persons and seized 10 gram of brown sugar, two motorcycles and Rs 5,97,370 from them during a raid in Puri.
The same day, another person was arrested during a raid in Jaleswar and 35 gram of brown sugar and Rs 1,47,280 cash were seized. The accused was later sent to judicial custody.
“Further investigation into these cases is on and other drug peddlers soon will be nabbed soon,” said a STF official.
