Rayagada: Police on Thursday arrested nine persons in connection with the murder of three members of a family on suspicion of practising witchcraft at Ukkamba village under Ramanguda block in Rayagada district.
The prime accused was also among the nine arrested persons.
The dead persons have been identified as Gopal Sabara, Laxmi Sabara and Jankini Sabara. They were missing since February 23 and a complaint in this regard had been lodged at the police station, informed the police on Tuesday.
Gopal Sabara’s daughter Sabita Sabara alleged that the three were beaten to death with wooden planks over suspicion that they practised witchcraft.
