Parlakhemundi: At least nine people, were killed and ten others sustained grievous after a brick-laden truck which they were travelling, overturned on Luhajhar ghati under Kashinagar block in Gajapati district on Tuesday.
Those injured were rescued and admitted to Parlakhemundi hospital for treatment.
According to eyewitnesses, the ill-fated vehicle overturned and fell about 30-40 feet down while rolling down the hilly road after the driver lost control over it either due to overloading or a brake failure.
The victims were on their way to Parlakhemundi from Anukumba village under Gumma block in the district when the mishap occurred, sources said.
