New Delhi: Amid speculation of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar breaking the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) and reuniting with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), all the parties in the state have gone into a huddle.
He will likely take oath as Bihar Chief Minister again on Sunday, a record ninth time, supported by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) – mirroring a familiar script from the 2020 elections. BJP sources have told NDTV that the process of Nitish Kumar breaking away from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and officially aligning with the BJP is underway.
Meanwhile, The BJP has called its state executive meeting over the weekend. Bihar Congress leader Shakeel Ahmed Khan has also called a meeting of party MLAs and former legislators in Purnea at 2 pm on Saturday. RJD leader and Kumar’s deputy Tejashwi Yadav is also reportedly meeting close leaders of the party at his residence to chalk out a strategy to thwart the loss of power in the event of the JD(U) leader deciding to call off the alliance.
Nitish Kumar’s solo appearance at the Republic Day tea at Raj Bhavan on Friday, without his deputy Tejashwi Yadav by his side, indicated a simmering discord between Janata Dal (United) and the RJD, who have called for a meeting of their legislators.
