Bhubaneswar: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) at Rourkela in Odisha Sundargarh district is all set to open its extension centre at Bhubaneswar by mid-2024.
This was stated by Prof Uma Maheswar Rao, Director, NIT Rourkela at a startup ecosystem meet in the city on Saturday. The centre will have a section for the Foundation for Technology Business Incubation (FTBI), which aims at providing solutions to the problems that the country is currently facing. The FTBI will provide a platform for young entrepreneurs of NIT Rourkela to showcase their skills and provide innovative solutions to the problems that plague our society.
“The FTBI will provide necessary infrastructure, including space, workshops, and expert guidance to the young entrepreneurs to help them start a full-fledged business enterprise. The experts will also guide them on how to obtain funding and navigate the complex landscape of the entrepreneurial world, which will help them become successful,” he said.
By providing a platform for young entrepreneurs to showcase their skills and providing them with the necessary support, the centre will pave the way for next generation of successful startups. The FTBI will also act as a bridge between the industry and the academia, fostering collaborations that will further help in the growth of the startup ecosystem, Prof Rao said.
“The opening of the extension center at Bhubaneswar is a significant milestone in the history of NIT Rourkela. The centre is expected to provide a much-needed boost to the entrepreneurial spirit of the region and contribute to the growth of the startup ecosystem in the state,” he added.
