Puri: The National Monument Authority (NMA) has given permission for construction of Shree Jagannath Reception Centre and Raghunanndan Library in the regulated area of Jagannath temple in Odisha’s Puri.
Revealing this to media persons in Puri on Thursday, newly appointed chief administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple administration (SJTA) Ranjan Dash said the NMA took the decision at a meeting held on April 25.
The two public buildings would be constructed in the south-east corner of the 12th century shrine as per the NMA permission, Dash said.
He further said the Authority has also issued its no objection certificate (NOC) for construction of 17 mutts in the prohibited area and 13 mutts in the regulated area around the temple.
According to sources, the NMA has approved the proposal for building the SJTA office in the regulated area. Bit it has directed the director of Culture department and Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to ensure that the building is constructed as per the approved plan of NMA.
It may be noted that the NMA had raised objection to the height of the 3-storey building which had exceeded 7.5 metre. The Culture department had approached the NMA with a fresh plan of the office building on April 7.
