Koraput: The three-member team of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) on Monday came down heavily on the Odisha government for its utter callousness in arresting the accused in the gang rape of a minor girl at Kunduli even after four months of the shocking incident.
“It is a matter of utter surprise and shame that the State Police is yet to nab the accused when such shameful and shocking incident has come to the limelight,” NCSC member Jogendra Paswan said after the return of his team from Musaguda, the native village of the victim.
He also wondered as to why the state government is yet to order a CBI probe into the incident. I cannot understand what problem the state government in handing over the case to the CBI when the family members of the victim are demanding the same. “I am sure that investigation by the central investigating agency will unravel the truth and give justice to the victim and her family members,” Paswan pointed out.
The team during its visit to Musaguda village was accompanied by the district collector and SP. After interacting with the family members, the team went to the High School at Kunduli where the victim was studying and interacted with her classmates, teachers and other school staff.
Later, the team went to the Community Health Centre where the victim was admitted after the alleged gang rape and gathered information from the doctors and staffs. From there, the team returned to the district headquarters and went to Saheed Laxmannath Medical College and Hospital where the victim had undergone treatment and interacted with the doctors who were in charge of her treatment. neswar alleging discrepancies in the reports of the Kunduli girl.
