Mumbai: Judge V V Patil on Thursday reserved his order on Aryan Khan’s bail plea. The verdict will be pronounced on October 20. He will stay in jail for now.
The bail hearing at the special NDPS court had resumed at 2 pm today.
Aryan Khan’s lawyer Amit Desai told the court that the WhatsApp chats, on the basis of which he was arrested, were extrajudicial confessions and weak evidence. “Let’s not take away the liberty of the boy due to this. The court can impose conditions to make him available for investigation. It is a fit case for grant of bail,” he said.

He closed his arguments by saying that Aryan Khan has no criminal antecedents.
ASG Anil Singh, representing Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), had vehemently opposed bail for Aryan, citing the case of Rhea’s brother Showik Chakraborty, who was denied bail since the matter was being investigated.

“The record and the evidence before your honour shows that he (Aryan) is a regular consumer of contraband for the last few years. The contraband in possession of Arbaaz Merchant who accompanied Khan was for the consumption of both of them,” he said.
Just because no drugs were found with Aryan does not mean he should get bail, he added.
Aryan and 5 others were shifted to the common cell from the quarantine barrack in the jail after their COVID report came negative, superintendent of Arthur Road Jail Nitin Waychal informed this morning.
