No CBSE Board Exams In Jan Or Feb: Education Minister

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board exams for Classes 10 and 12 will not be held in January or February, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said during an online interaction with teachers on Tuesday.

The minister added that the exams will be held later, but did not indicate any tentative dates.

“The CBSE board exams will be held offline and will be held after February. The exact dates of these exams will be announced later after assessing the situation,” he said.

He further informed that the CBSE board exams will be held on a reduced syllabus. “Of the total syllabus, 30% has been cut and some states have also announced a similar move, while others are expected to do the same. There will also be 33% internal choices in the exams,” he said.

Pokhiryal, however, ruled out cancellation of the exams. “Promoting students without exam will result in putting a stamp on these students. These students might face trouble in getting jobs and admissions at higher education level in future. We do not want that for our students,” he said.

“Thus, cancellation will not happen. Thus, the board exams will be held but postponed,” he added.
