Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday released the details of 67 new COVID-19 cases reported in the last 24 hours.
Among the fresh cases, 65 have been detected in quarantine centres, while two are local contacts.
Ganjam reported the highest 26 new cases followed by Jajpur (11), Khuda (11), Nayagarh (7), Balangir (2), Jagatsinghpur (2), Sambalpur (2), Keonjhar (1) and Bargarh (1).
For the second consecutive day, no cases have been detected in Puri, where work on the chariots for the Lords for Rath Yatra is in full swing. Preparations are on for smooth conduct of Snana Jatra on June 5.
Four persons had tested positive for the virus on Tuesday. The district had also reported no fresh case on Sunday. With 25 persons have been cured of the infection, the district now has 60 active cases.
PATIENTS DETAILS
In Ganjam, 16 new corona patients had recently returned from Surat, six from Maharashtra and three from Tamil Nadu. The remaining one is a local case. With these new cases, Ganjam’s tally has gone up to 394 and 283 of them have so far been fully cured. The virus has claimed three lives in the district.
Jajpur reported 11 new cases in quarantine centres. Eight among them have travel history to West Bengal while two are Gujarat returnees and one from Andhra Pradesh.
Khurda saw 11 new cases and 10 among them in quarantine centres. Of them, five had come from Maharashtra, three from Gujarat, two from West Bengal, and one of local.
In Nayagarh, seven Gujarat returnees have tested positive for the virus. Similarly, two Maharashtra returnees were found to have contracted coronavirus in Balangir.
Two cases each have been reported from Sambalpur (Uttar Pradesh & Andhra Pradesh returnees) and Jagatsinghpur (West Bengal returnees).
The four cases in Sonepur have travel history to Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.
One each case Keonjhar and Bargarh had travel history to Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra respectively.
With seven deaths and 812 recoveries, Odisha now has 841 active cases.
