No COVID Vaccination Certificate Needed For Puri Residents To Enter Jagannath Temple

Puri: A COVID vaccination certificate is not required for Puri denizens to enter the Jagannath temple in Puri.

A Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) in this regard was issued for the residents of Puri on Friday.

Notably, the Jagannath temple is set to reopen for devotees from August 16. It will stay open from 7 am to 8 pm.

As per the decision taken in the Chhattisha Nijog meeting, only the residents of Puri town will be allowed to enter the temple for the first five days from August 16 to 20.

Tokens will be distributed to the people of 32 wards in Puri. With that token and Aadhaar card, devotees can get darshan of the sibling deities.

Besides, the devotees cannot light incense-sticks and earthen lamps while offering prayers at the temple. They also cannot eat prasad at Ananda Bazar inside the temple.

Notably, the devotees from outside Puri will be allowed entry from August 23 since the temple will remain closed for two days on Saturday and Sunday due to the weekend shutdown.
