Bhubaneswar: Days after Odisha Health Minister Naba Kishore Das’ assassination by an assistant sub-inspector of police, Leader of Opposition Jaynarayan Mishra on Friday said that he had given up his personal security officer (PSO) since he longer had faith in Odisha Police.

This came a day after he sought central security for Gopal Das, who allegedly shot the minister five days ago leading to his death, while referring to the mysterious death of the main accused in the Mamita Meher case, Gobinda Sahu, in jail custody.

Speaking to the media here, Jaynarayan also demanded EGC report of Das conducted at the district headquarters hospital in Jharsuguda, the referral certificate, and a report from the Airports Authority of India on his condition while being airlifted to Bhubaneswar. “It was weird to see Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik with folded hands as he was being taken into the Apollo Hospitals here. A deceased person was operated upon at the hospital. There is a need to investigate all these angles. Since the state government is trying to suppress these facts, the case should be handed over to CBI,” he said.

The LoP had earlier said that the health minister had died on the spot after being shot at by the ASI and a drama was enacted the entire day in an attempt to hoodwink people of the state.

Meanwhile, the Crime Branch, which is probing the firing incident, visited the rented house of accused Gopal at Brajarajnagar for an inquiry. A team is also questioning two bus employees, who used to deliver medicines to Gopal, at Berhampur bus stand since his wife had claimed that medicines were being sent as her husband was suffering from mental illness. One of his friends is also being interrogated.
