New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Agriculture, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Wednesday informed the Rajya Sabha that the Odisha government has not informed the Centre about Central assistance for the drought situation in the state.
Replying to a question of the BJD Rajya Sabha member Anubhav Mohanty, the Union Minister said the Central team had visited six states to assess the drought situation. Later, a committee formed by the ministry had recommended Central assistance to these states on the basis of the crop loss assessment made by the team.
He said though the Odisha government has announced drought in some parts of the state, it is yet to submit any memorandum to this effect to the Centre.
