No Let-Up In COVID Deaths In Odisha; Record Fatalities In 24 Hours

Bhubaneswar: While the daily positivity rate has dropped to 12 per cent with over 8000 new COVID-19 cases being reported for the last three consecutive days, the rising number of deaths continues to be a concern for Odisha.

The state reported the highest-ever fatalities in a singly day on Thursday with 42 people succumbing to the virus in the last 24 hours.

The number has been continuously increasing for the past four days.

According to Health Department sources, the new deaths have been reported from 18 districts.

The highest of five fatalities have been reported from Sundargarh, followed by four each from Cuttack and Kalahandi, three each from Boudh, Jharsuguda, and Khurda, two each from Angul, Balasore, Balangir, Deogarh, Gajapati, Kendrapada, Nabarangpur and Rayagada and one each from Bargarh, Bhadrak, Ganjam, and Puri.

The deceased have been identified as:

1.A 80 years old male of Angul district who was also suffering from Asthma.

2.A 58 years old male of Angul district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.

3.A 38 years old male of Balasore district.

4.A 57 years old male of Balasore district.

5.A 50 years old male of Baragarh district.

6.A 39 years old male of Bhadrak district.

7.A 43 years old male of Balangir district.

8.A 40 years old male of Balangir district.

9.A 35 years old male of Boudh district.

10.A 55 years old male of Boudh district.

11.A 45 years old female of Boudh district.

12.A 47 years old male of Bhubaneswar.

13.A 42 years old male of Bhubaneswar.

14.A 42 years old male of Cuttack district.

15.A 49 years old male of Cuttack district.

16.A 36 years old male of Cuttack district.

17.A 49 years old male of Cuttack district.

18.A 40 years old male of Deogarh district.

19.A 35 years old female of Deogarh district who was also suffering from Hypertension.

20.A 65 years old female of Gajapati district.

21.A 50 years old male of Gajapati district.

22.A 29 years old female of Ganjam district.

23.A 43 years old male of Jharsuguda district.

24.A 46 years old male of Jharsuguda district.

25.A 55 years old female of Jharsuguda district.

26.A 43 years old male of Kalahandi district.

27.A 45 years old male of Kalahandi district.

28.A 31 years old male of Kalahandi district.

29.A 52 years old male of Kalahandi district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.

30.A 28 years old male of Kendrapada district.

31.A 50 years old male of Kendrapada district.

32.A 49 years old male of Khurda district.

33.A 39 years old male of Nabarangapur district.

34.A 40 years old male of Nabarangapur district.

35.A 38 years old male of Puri district.

36.A 29 years old female of Rayagada district

37.A 55 years old male of Rayagada district who was also suffering from Manic Depressive Psychosis.

38.A 23 years old male of Sundargarh district.

39.A 46 years old male of Sundargarh district.

40.A 36 years old male of Sundargarh district.

41.A 56 years old female of Sundargarh district.

42.A 62 years old female of Sundargarh district.

 

With this, the death toll in the state has mounted to 2873.
