No Major Impact Of COVID Third Wave In Odisha, Assures Govt

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Monday ruled out any major impact of the third wave of COVID-19 in the state.

Director of Health Services Bijay Mohapatra told the media that the COVID-19 situation in Odisha is better than other states.

Mohapatra also referred to the report of the recent sero survey done by ICMR-RMRC in 12 districts. He informed that the overall sero prevalence for COVID antibody has been found to be more than 73% in general people and over 93% among health workers in Odisha.

He attributed the higher antibody count to the mass vaccination drive. He said there is no difference between Covaxin and Covishield as both vaccines have proved effective against COVID-19.

At the same time, he cautioned that though the infection rate in Odisha is under control, the people should not be complacent and must adhere to the COVID protocols.
