Mumbai: One of the most-loved reality shows ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, hosted by Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, is all set to go live at 9 pm on Monday.
More than the love for the game, it’s the dream of the participants to meet the Senior Bachchan that brings them to the show in Mumbai.
According to the Indian Express report, the contestants won’t be able to hug Big B in this season.
The participants will apparently get an ‘elbow hi’ from the KBC host as social distancing norms will be strictly followed on the sets.
“The contestants won’t be able to hug him, but Bachchan sir will be doing an ‘elbow hi’. The conversations remain the same. Physical distance hasn’t disturbed the content,” showrunner Sujata Sanghamitra was quoted as saying by IE.
This time, the KBC set and the format of the show underwent quite a few changes in the wake of the ongoing pandemic.
There will be no live audience on the sets this time and thus, the ‘audience poll’ lifeline has also been replaced by ‘video-a-friend’ lifeline.
“The set designing changed as we have only eight fastest finger first contestants, reduced from the usual 10 so that social distancing is maintained. We have companions of the contestants, but they are also seated far apart. The design of the hot seat and the contestant’s chair has also changed, there’s more gap now,” said Sujata.
Arunshesh Kumar, the technical director of KBC, said, “There are sanitization tunnels, doctors who check temperatures and oxygen levels, and a database of everyone on the set is maintained. A heavy load of sanitization happens at least four-five times a day. A team sanitizes the set during every break. We even have a set monitor to keep a check on how people are wearing the masks.”
After recovering from COVID-19, senior Bachchan started shooting for the 12th season of KBC in August.
