Puri: Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Tuesday clarified that there is no ‘Nagarjuna Besha’ of the deities of the Jagannath Temple here as per the annual calendar.
Nagarjuna Besha of Lord Jagannath and siblings will not be held in 2021 as stated earlier by the almanac writers of Srimandir in December 2020. The announcement was made by the Administrator (Rituals) of Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Jitendra Sahu on Tuesday.
Speaking to media persons, Administrator (Rituals) of SJTA Jitendra Sahu said a committee comprising pandits of Mukti Mandap Scholar Council and other stakeholders studied different almanacs submitted to them and finalised the dates for different rituals of the deities.
As per their calculations, Nagarjuna Besha does not fall in 2021. It has been erroneously mentioned in some almanacs, Sahu said.
