Bhubaneswar: With the process of the COVID vaccination of pregnant women starting in Odisha, the government has made special provisions for their convenience.
In order to ensure that the pregnant women do not have to take physical strain, there will be no queue for them at any vaccination centre in the state, said Director, Health and Family Welfare Bijay Panigrahi.
Instructions have been issued to the district administrations to make necessary provisions for a separate waiting room for the pregnant women, he added.
“The state government has received the guidelines from the Health Ministry regarding the vaccination of the pregnant women and accordingly we have given necessary instructions to the districts. As per the instructions, the districts have been asked to make a list of the pregnant women and the AHSA and Anganwadi workers will facilitate them in the preparation of the list,” Panigrahi said.
He further said there will be a separate waiting room for the pregnant woman so that they will be kept under observation for at least half an hour to observe the side effects of the vaccine.
The Central guidelines state that there will be no doorstep vaccination of the pregnant women as there is a possibility of side-effects.
