New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a set of guidelines prohibiting any new renewable energy projects within 1 km of the Line of Control, the Line of Actual Control, and the International Border, reports claim.
The guidelines, as reported by HT, state that the ministry’s Internal Security wing also bar the hiring of engineers, staff, employees and labour from land border countries for project implementation without nod from the Centre.
Under these guidelines, areas which fall under 50 km of the Line of Control , Line of Actual Control , or the International Border have been referred to as “sensitive areas”.
“All solar, wind and hybrid energy projects within 50 km will require security clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs. The 1 km area will be strictly restricted, and no project activity will be permitted in this area,” the guidelines mentions, as per HT.
From such projects, security clearance will be required from Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Defence on case-to-case basis in the form of a No Objection Certificate.
It also states that the applicant should not transfer land to any foreign company without prior approval of the Centre.
